Luiz Oosterbeek

Luiz Oosterbeek (Nat.: Portuguese; Born: Ede, 1960). PhD in Archaeology (1994). President of the International Council for Philosophy and Human Sciences. Former Secretary-General of the International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences. Founder of the International Association for Humanities and Cultural Integrated Landscape management (APHELEIA). Conducts research in the fields of archaeology, heritage and landscape management in Portugal, Africa and Southern America. Received prizes and awards from the the European Commission, the Brazilian Order of Advocates, the Portuguese Ministry of Culture, Gulbenkian Foundation, Foundation for Science and Technology and several private sponsors. Professor of the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar, President of the Instituto Terra e Memória (Portugal). Member of the Scientific Council of the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, in France. Guest Professor in several European and Brazilian Universities. Director of the Museum of Prehistoric Art in Mação (PT) and Vice-President of HERITY International (IT). Holder of the UNESCO-IPT chair “Humanities and Cultural Integrated Landscape management”. Supervised 26 PhD thesis and 62 master dissertations.
